About Us & Contact

The Chime Project started out as two college friends – Shaleen and Nymphea, with different interest areas, and distinct areas of expertise, finding ourselves immersed in conversations, where we had a lot to learn from each other. A shared joy of explaining concepts, excitedly telling stories and building connections, meant that these conversations were long! Long, but also, interesting : ) So we got chatting, and walking (fair amount of stamina needed), and questioning (we may be a little too curious)…. and realized that there are some interesting melodies that can be created at the intersection of Music and History, Art and Science.

We’ve had the opportunity to take a diverse set of audiences from school students, public audiences for National Museum Programmes, corporate groups and musicians, on Musical-History learning experiences, and have enjoyed sharing our passions with them. The teachers and story-tellers within us jump in joy when we hear questions (especially from children), when we see a glimmer in eye of people who’ve discovered a new pattern/connection, delight by those who see textbook-laden concepts brought alive infront of them, and a general sense of fervour in the air by groups who enjoy an engaging learning experience. Why ‘Chime‘?

– You need two or more pieces to make music in a chime ( we’re all for multidisciplinary learning)
– You may not be able to see the wind, but the chime may tell its story (we like to bring out the embedded stories)
– We Chime into each others conversations (it’s fun creating something with another person)
– Chime is musical. It also rhymes with rhyme (sometimes we’re cheesy)
